hi again!
i’m susan,
I am a product designer and continuous learner. I am passionate about creating tech that removes friction from people’s lives and does good things for the world.
I am drawn to user-centric projects and teams that are passionate about their mission!
how i became a designer
a creative engineer
Currently, as a senior software engineer at Qualcomm, my focus is on developing Automotive Audio features based on Android Automotive OS, during which I was honored to receive a crystal award recognizing my contribution to the successful launch of a novel audio platform.
However, my engagement with design has been equally significant and extensive. From my early experience as a digital illustrator, to the later privilege of hosting a solo gallery exhibition, to interning at a startup where I first contributed to user interface design, visual communication and artistic creation have been consistent threads throughout my life.
design thinking and HCI
My undergraduate degree in Engineering Science, which I earned with honors, was also interlaced with design thinking - from courses that included teachings on the Double Diamond design process to philosophies in The Design of Everyday Things.
My degree also culminated in a year-long thesis at the intersection of human-computer interaction and quantifying emotional responses. This experience was my introduction to HCI, user research, and human factors engineering. Looking back, I always had a feeling that I wanted to work in a space that was more user-centric.
going for big goals
Now, after 2 years of dedicating my free time to learning about UI/UX design and completing design projects while working full-time, I am eager to fully commit to this lifelong weaving of technical constraints with imaginative design.
I am beyond excited to craft meaningful and user-centered digital experiences in a full-time product design role.
Reach out if you've got a cool project on the horizon!
in my off-hours
I like to fill my personal time rock climbing, creating art, and seeking out beautiful spots in nature.
I love to hear about people's niche interests, favorite comfort restaurants, and book recommendations (especially non-fiction and memoir).
